summary: The most widespread source of oceanic current data in the Solomon Sea comes from direct Shipboard Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (SADCP) measurements. Most research vessels are equipped with SADCPs so that oceanic currents are recorded during either transits or cruises of various purposes. These data are assembled here to provide a comprehensive description of the oceanic circulation inside the Solomon Sea in the upper 300m. The range of transport variations as well as the current structures and vertical extent are estimated, in the straits. Method : Optimal Interpolation (OI). The files Solomon_sea_sadcp_oi_20_100.cdf and Solomon_sea_sadcp_oi_100_300.cdf contain the gridded SADCP in the Solomon Sea region. CHAMPU is the zonal velocity, CHAMPV the meridional velocity, ERRU the error on zonal velocity and ERRV the error on the meridional velocity (between 0 and 1, percent of the variance of the signal). A threshold of 0.8 can be used to select only grid points with data.
